Reviews

This is an oversized soft cover art book using special paper that recalls Spero's papers used in her collages. Dan Miller Design is responsible for the unusual and sophisticated layouts done in consultation with the artist. Extraordinary essays by exhibition organizer and museum curator Dominique Nahas, along with feminist scholar Jo-Anna Isaak, Rob Storr and Leon Golub, Nancy Spero's husband. This book has art-historical value as it was printed in conjunction with the first United States traveling retrospective offered to this celebrated and influential first generation feminist by the Everson Museum in Syracuse, New York in 1987. The exhibition "Nancy Spero: Works Since 1950" was an epochal one and it traveled to numerous venues in the United States and Canada including the New Museum in New York City, the MCA in Chicago and the Power Plant in Toronto.
